The Maxxis Mecotra ME3+ has been selected as the original equipment tyre on the 2021 Volkswagen Caddy 5. The Mecotra ME3+ tyre is a new version of the economy focused Mecotra ME3 replacement market product. The tyre was developed by the manufacturer specially for the new VW Caddy in size 205/60 R16 96H XL.

The Mecotra ME3+ was developed in accordance with the requirements of the fifth generation VW Caddy. Maxxis worked on the specific formulation for the new tyre at its Development Centre in China and the European Technical Centre in The Netherlands. The tyre is designed to meet VW’s requirements, balanced with the regular Mecotra ME3’s existing traits in fuel efficiency. Volkswagen stipulated particular load conditions and driving dynamics to suit the latest version of its Caddy compact van – its second most popular light commercial vehicle after the Transporter.

The newly developed Mecotra ME3+ features a new bespoke tread compound and optimised tyre construction, both of which are tailored to the needs of the latest VW van. The tyre achieves the top EU labelling grade of A in both rolling resistance and wet grip.

The new VW Caddy 5 will be available to order by the end of 2020 with the specially developed Maxxis tyre fitted as standard.
