Pirelli suspends production at Romanian plant

Pirelli is suspending activity at its plant in Slatina Romania on 23-31 March. The plant, which produces car and motorsport tyres, has around 4,000 employees. Pirelli stated that the decision was informed by the COVID-19 pandemic and a slowdown in demand on the car market. It added that it plans to restart production with a workforce reduced as much as possible to increase protection to workers.

Pirelli had attempted to keep continuity through the crisis in Italy, but slowed production following an employee in Turin testing positive for the virus.
