Tyre makers need digital transformation strategy

The tyre industry today faces many unprecedented challenges. Along with a crowded and constantly shifting market, companies are scrambling to keep up with paradigm shifts such as the advent of electromobility and changes to the supply chain. At Tire Technology Expo 2020, Rockwell Automation will be showing visitors how they can master these challenges and digitalise their operations – including the transition process of bringing the design stage of a plant or machine through to maintenance and repair.

Dominique Scheider, Automotive & Tire Industry manager, EMEA at Rockwell Automation, will be demonstrating how companies can improve machine uptime and reliability in a conference presentation held on 26 February at 4:20 pm in Hall 19. This event will detail the two key strategy pillars that can assist tyre makers and machine builders in boosting production and innovation. Foremost, the project lifecycle strategy to strengthen performance, improve asset utilisation and mitigate risk will be discussed, proceeded by the optimal use of manufacturing execution systems (MES), analytics platforms, and other digital technologies.

“The tyre industry is facing its ‘survival of the fittest’ epoch,” notes Scheider. “The entities that will weather the storm most effectively are those that have set a solid yet flexible and agile foundation that will serve them well in the years to come. Rockwell Automation has decades of experience in this industry and has the expertise to help customers build this foundation.”

The Rockwell Automation tyre technology specialists will also be available on stand 10080 in Hall 21 to demonstrate the FactoryTalk InnovationSuite powered by PTC, as well as its curing press experience using augmented reality. Visitors can see for themselves how a planned digitalisation initiative can increase throughput and product quality while minimising expensive downtime.
