Nynas: Our oils contribute to safe & efficient winter tyres

Swedish company Nynas is presenting its naphthenic tyre oils at Tire Technology Expo next month, and aims to convince customers and producers that tyres made with Nynas oils “provide low rolling resistance, reducing energy losses and fuel consumption, while maintaining wet grip for improved control on snow and ice.”

Nynas says its naphthenic tyre oils are renowned for their “positive contribution to rolling resistance” – a key quality that is expected to continue shaping the tyre industry going forward. “Tyres play an increasingly significant role as the fuel efficiency of cars is broken down into components. Through the benefits they offer, our oils add sustainable value for both manufacturers and drivers themselves,” says Dr Herbert Fruhmann, Nynas’ market manager for tyres.

With cold weather conditions impacting roads in many countries at this time of the year, it is critical that tyres made with Nynas oils do not compromise on other important technical properties. “Our Nytex tyre oil range is specially designed to be flexible at low temperatures while offering durability and reliability, so that drivers can reach their destination safely,” Fruhmann adds.

It is the wax-free nature of naphthenic oils that make them well-suited to winter tyre formulations. Enabling retention of rubber elasticity and dynamic stiffness in winter conditions, naphthenic oils also improve traction, which is a key performance criterion for winter tyres.

In addition to showcasing its Nytex range at Tire Technology Expo between 25 and 27 February, company technical advisor Dr Kamyar Alavi will also give a presentation about the performance of naphthenic oil in winter tyres at the exhibition conference on 25 February.
