A new £23 million scrappage scheme to help take the most polluting vans off London roads has been launched to prepare for the ultra-low emission zone (ULEZ). The scheme, announced by the Mayor of London, will initially help London’s micro-businesses – defined as those with fewer than 10 employees – to switch to the cleanest vehicles, including electric.

During its first year as part of the Würth Group Liqui Moly has chalked up a new record turnover, but growth has been more subdued than previously. The German oil and additive specialist recorded a turnover of 544 million euros, just two per cent more than the previous year. “International trade disputes, the hot summer and increasing costs, especially the dramatically increased crude oil prices, have all contributed to the significant slowing down of our earnings growth,” says Ernst Prost, Liqui Moly CEO.
Yokohama Rubber will participate in the Tokyo Auto Salon 2019 between 11 and 13 January at Makuhari Messe. The company will showcase its tyre and aluminium wheel products. Yokohama adds that it will have a special focus on its “hobby tyres” – those for motorsport or classic car applications. The booth will also introduce its motorsport activities, which it states make important contributions to its technology development for consumer tyres.
The ECP Group has appointed Andy Hamilton as CEO, replacing Martin Gray who has decided to leave the company to pursue other interests. Hamilton joined Euro Car Parts in 2010 and held several different roles within the company, the last of which was chief operating officer.
Goodyear has renewed its corporate membership of international development organisation Transaid for a further year. Transaid’s life-saving projects in sub-Saharan Africa, with its financial contribution providing essential unrestricted funding towards the testing and implementation of new programmes aimed at improving road safety and access to healthcare. Goodyear originally pledged its support in 2015.
