Goodyear signs five-year deal with R.D. Williams & Sons Haulage

Williams Transport Goodyear Tyres has agreed a five-year partnership with family-run business, R.D. Williams & Sons Haulage

Goodyear Tyres has agreed a five-year partnership with family-run business, R.D. Williams & Sons Haulage. With 40 years’ experience in the transport industry, a 90-strong fleet, R.D Williams & Sons transports a range goods. Expertise in moving floor haulage means its trailers are highly specialised to carry loose items, such as wastepaper and pro-fuel products.

R.D. Williams Haulage & Sons will be supported by Goodyear Total Mobility, a comprehensive offering that provides premium tyres, proactive maintenance and breakdown service, and digital solutions. As part of this agreement, Goodyear Proactive Solutions (TPMS) will be used on the full Williams Transport fleet to monitor tyre pressures and temperatures in real time. This predictive technology and use of advanced telematics allow for underinflated tyres, punctures and mechanical issues to be identified and resolved quickly – before they happen.

Goodyear is equipping the fleet with premium tyres from the KMAX GEN-2 range. These tyres bear the Three-Peak-Mountain-Snow-Flake (3PMSF) marking, indicating their reliability in wintry conditions, and because of their low rolling resistance, contribute to lower CO2 emissions.

TruckForce – Goodyear’s 24/7 commercial vehicle support network specialising in the lifecycle management of truck tyres – will also be on hand to keep the fleet moving. Not only will technicians respond to breakdown requests, but they will also visit Williams Transport’s site on a regular basis to carry out proactive, everyday maintenance on its tyres. The TruckForce network also includes support from ServiceLine24h roadside assistance and FleetOnlineSolutions – Goodyear’s Internet-based fleet management system.

Andrew Williams, Director of R.D. Williams & Sons Haulage, commented: “Having Goodyear as our tyre supplier will be incredibly beneficial to the performance of our fleet. We pride ourselves on the ability to supply a variety of services in a timely manner across the country, and the key to this efficiency is equipping our vehicles with the best possible equipment. We believe strongly that investing in fleet maintenance is what will help us to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients and partnering with trusted suppliers is crucial to this. For this reason, we are looking forward to operating with the tyres and support provided by Goodyear.”

David Howe, Commercial Sales Manager at Goodyear Tyres, commented: “As a national company with a rich heritage in the transport industry, we are delighted to be partnering with R.D. Williams Haulage & Sons. We understand the need for busy fleets to operate safely and efficiently and are aware of just how costly tyre-related issues can be. Therefore, with our Goodyear Total Mobility offering, we are looking forward to delivering that all-important support whilst managing the total cost of ownership.”
