VRA seminar focuses on key issues facing remarketing sector in 2020

The challenges facing the remarketing sector in 2020 is the subject of a major, free seminar that has been announced by the Vehicle Remarketing Association, which represents organisations involved in buying, selling and preparing 1.5 million used vehicles every year.

“2020 Vision” will take a wide-ranging look at issues likely to affect the used car and van markets next year, ranging from a possible recession and Brexit through to the latest in online retailing and dealer margins, as well as examining future mobility and consumer behaviour.

The one-day event, which is sponsored by Cazana, will take place at The Slate, Warwick University on Wednesday 27 November, and there are free places for up to 150 delegates.

Sam Watkins, chair at the VRA, said: “It is no exaggeration to say that the factors being faced by the remarketing sector into the next year are unprecedented in their scope and scale.

“At a macroeconomic level, we have the highly unpredictable effects of Brexit, at a vehicle level we have electric cars starting to arrive in the sector in larger numbers, while in retailing we have everything from increased online presence through to mobility solutions.

“Taken together, these subjects could bring about genuinely structural changes to remarketing. What we will be doing is looking at the picture in a format that is designed to be fast and informative, providing as much information as possible within a day to our members and other delegates ranging from fleets to manufacturers and dealers to leasing companies.”

Watkins added that the event was very much designed to underline the importance of the role of the VRA and its increasing relevance within remarketing.

“The VRA has been revitalised in recent years and this seminar is the largest event of its kind that we have held in some time, perhaps ever. At a time when the remarketing sector is in flux, we are able to provide essential support and advice for anyone working in the sector.”

Rupert Pontin, director of insight at Cazana, added: “We’re very excited to be part of this year’s seminar and pleased to be working with the VRA on 2020 Vision. Our award-winning realtime technology has the potential to help many businesses in the remarketing sector navigate next year more effectively and make better margins! We are looking forward to using this exciting day to get our vision across to this important industry audience at this time of political and economic uncertainty and change.”

Details on speakers will be released later this month. Readers can register for the VRA Seminar on Wednesday 27 November 2019 at: bit.ly/vra2711.
