Ceat aiming for greater European presence with UHP tyre range

Indian tyre maker Ceat Ltd. says it anticipates a greater presence in “Europe’s niche market segments” thanks to the recent addition of low profile 19- and 20-inch UHP tyres to its portfolio. Ceat mentions Germany as a market of particular interest for these products.

The introduction of a UHP tyre range in Europe and other future plans for the region will be assisted by the CEAT European Technical Centre (CETC) in Frankfurt, Germany. Led by former Kumho and Apollo Vredestein man Peter Becker, who joined Ceat Germany in 2017 as senior vice president of R&D and technology, the CETC is also tasked with developing relationships with European OEMs.

New Ceat truck and bus radials are also Europe-bound. During the financial year to 31 March 2019 the tyre maker commissioned additional commercial radial capacity at its plant in Halol India, and now has the capacity to produce 960,000 TBR tyres per annum. Commercial radials produced in Halol will arrive in European markets by the end of next year at the latest.
