Nokian shares progress with rolling resistance reduction

Nokian Tyres says the rolling resistance of its tyres is now eight per cent lower on average than in 2013. It points out that this reduction is the equivalent of exhaust fumes from 65,000 cars.

Furthermore, over 90 per cent of all Nokian tyres have an EU label rating of A, B or C for fuel efficiency. This compares favourably with the average for the market – the ETRMA reports that most tyres sold in Europe (as of 2017) still carry an E rating for fuel efficiency.

“Our engineers work hard to keep up the good work: our goal is to reduce the rolling resistance of each new tyre generation without compromising safety,” comments Teppo Huovila, vice president of quality and sustainability at Nokian Tyres.
