Goodyear introduces 3 new UltraGrip winter tyres

The UltraGrip 9+is at home in harsh winter conditions

In what it calls a “complete upgrade” of its UltraGrip winter tyre range, Goodyear has announced three new product lines. The tyre maker has already begun the market rollout of the Goodyear UltraGrip Performance+, UltraGrip 9+ and UltraGrip Cargo, and all sizes will be available within the coming year.

Goodyear says it has improved wet, dry and winter performance in the UltraGrip Performance+ high-performance car tyre thanks to the use of two key technologies: Traction Protect Technology includes a new resin that improves the tyre’s deformation and reformation capabilities. This allows for braking forces to be better converted into grip. Winter Grip Technology carries a new compound mixture leading to a better rubber elasticity at low temperatures, boosting grip on snow and ice.

With its UltraGrip 9+, Goodyear aims to give consumers a tyre that takes rough road conditions caused by harsh winter conditions in its stride. Its Mileage Plus technology protects the tyre from cracks and detachment of rubber particles caused by rough road conditions. Goodyear says this results in a better mileage performance. The UltraGrip 9+ also incorporates Winter Grip Technology for grip on snow and ice.

Owners of commercial vehicles looking to keep their van on the road even in the toughest winter conditions now have the option to choose the UltraGrip Cargo. Thanks to different upgrades in tread design and compound mixture, Goodyear says its new winter tyre for light commercials has an outstanding braking performance on snow. Goodyear also claims that the tyre’s improved mileage lowers the total cost of ownership.

Around 69 per cent of the UltraGrip 9+ sizes will be introduced by the end of this month, with the last 31 per cent gradually being released until September 2019. UltraGrip Performance+ sizes will be available as of June, with more than half of the sizes available by August 2019. By the end of June 2020, all sizes will be available. All UltraGrip Cargo tyre sizes are already available.
