Asahi Kasei – 2020 move to new Europe HQ

Synthetic rubber and chemicals company Asahi Kasei is relocating its European headquarters. Asahi Kasei Europe (AKEU) will remain in Düsseldorf, Germany, however in the second half of 2020 will move to a location in Düsseldorf harbour. In this new location, the company intends to consolidate its sales, marketing and R&D activities, thereby further enhancing its business approach to the European automotive industry.

Following the establishment of Asahi Kasei Europe at Seestern, Düsseldorf in April 2016, Asahi Kasei has accelerated its activities with European vehicle manufacturers. This has been followed by the opening of the Asahi Kasei Europe R&D Centre in Chempark Dormagen in October 2017, a facility that has given Asahi Kasei local technical support and has strengthened the company’s cooperation with companies and universities within Europe.

Asahi Kasei comments that moving to a new headquarters lays the base for further growth. Asahi Kasei Europe signed a rental contract for its future office site in ‘C-View’, Düsseldorf harbour in April. At the same time, Asahi Kasei Microdevices Europe – currently located in Seestern – will move to the new officer, and the Asahi Kasei Europe R&D Centre will also move there from Chempark Dormagen. The R&D Centre is currently using the office space of Asahi Kasei Spandex Europe (AKSE), a manufacturer of elastic fibres. AKSE is not planning to relocate and will stay at its current location.

“The C-View office provides us with the great opportunity to combine our sales, marketing and R&D activities at one single location,” says Hideki Tsutsumi, managing director of Asahi Kasei Europe. “This will enable us to further accelerate our business activities in Europe, especially towards the European automotive industry. At the same time, it shows our commitment to the city of Düsseldorf as a strong base for our European business.”
