Superior Industries appoints new president, CEO

Aluminium wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International, Inc. has appointed a permanent successor to Don Stebbins, who retired as the company’s president and chief executive officer at the end of last year. Majdi B. Abulaban will start in both roles on 15 May 2019, taking over from executive chairman, Timothy McQuay, who assumed all Stebbins’ duties once the latter’s departure was announced.

“Majdi brings to Superior a significant amount of operational experience in global leadership positions within the automotive industry,” said McQuay. “He has a demonstrated track record of creating value for shareholders, customers, and other stakeholders in his roles with Aptiv and its predecessor company. We are excited to have Majdi join Superior and believe he is the right leader for the company as we continue to implement best practices across our entire organisation and enhance our global competitiveness.”

Abulaban was most recently a senior-vice president at Aptiv (formerly Delphi Automotive) and group president of the company’s Global Signal and Power Solutions segment. Previously he served as Asia-Pacific region president for Delphi and held various business unit leadership positions with the firm in China, Singapore, and the United States. Abulaban is also currently a member of the Board of Directors of SPX FLOW, a global supplier of highly specialised, engineered solutions.

“I am very pleased to be joining Superior, a company with a long history as a leading wheel supplier to the automotive industry,” said Abulaban. “I look forward to working with the management team, employees, and Board of Directors to execute on the company’s mission to deliver innovative solutions that enhance value to customers, shareholders, and all stakeholders.”
