Cooper Tires exclusive for 2020 British Rallycross Championship

Cooper Tires has been confirmed as exclusive tyre supplier for Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship. It takes over in this capacity from Toyo Tires, and as such from 2020 the championship will be known as the Motorsport UK British Rallycross Championship 5 Nations Trophy Presented by Cooper Tires.

Linglong Tire working with Tencent Cloud, Huazhi Group on digital platform & manufacturing system

On 21 December, Linglong Tire signed a tripartite strategic agreement with Tencent Cloud and Shenzhen Huazhi Technology Group. The tyre maker hopes that this deal, signed by the three parties at Tencent’s global headquarters, will help it build a “global industrial service platform and intelligent retail platform.”

Giti Tire returns as F3 Asia tyre supplier

Giti Tire is returning in 2020 as the exclusive tyre provider and brand in the Formula 3 Asian Championship Series, a top-level formula competition of young racing leaders from around the world. Next year’s race calendar includes Giti’s international motorsports racing debut in the Middle East, with races featured on 10-11 January in Dubai and 17-18 January in Abu Dhabi.

STARCO returns to French aftermarket with Copadex

Although STARCO retained its aftermarket presence in the UK, in 2017 it ended its activities within this sector in a number of European markets, including France. The company is now returning to this particular market through a partnership with tyre wholesaler Copadex. From the start of 2020, a selection of STARCO’s tyre range will be available and easily accessible in the French aftermarket via Copadex’s network and e-shop.

UK Commercial Vehicle production rises in November

UK commercial vehicle (CV) production increased 9.8 per cent in November, with 8,768 units manufactured, according to figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). Output for overseas markets was up 43.5 per cent, but production for the domestic market fell again, down 21.7 per cent as business confidence remained weak.

Pirelli: WRC tyre supply confirms “leadership in world motorsport”

The era of Michelin tyres dominating the World Rally Championship (WRC) is drawing to a close. The FIA has chosen Pirelli as sole tyre supplier for the WRC from 2021 to 2024. With its selection, Pirelli sees itself at “the top of motorsport” thanks to its exclusive tyre supply to both the leading rally and single seater racing championships. “These successful campaigns confirm Pirelli’s leadership in world motorsport,” comments the tyre maker.

Say hello to new generation of Pirelli tyres for buses and coaches engaged in regional and long-distance service. The H:01 Coach line-up includes the FH:01 all-axle and the specialised TH:01 drive tyre fitment. Manufacturer Prometeon says its R&D team aimed to develop a product that satisfies the needs of operators in the sector while keeping pace with the evolution of both vehicle technologies and regulations covering CO2 emissions and noise.

Goodyear official WTCR tyre supplier from 2020

As of next season, Goodyear will take over from Yokohama as official tyre supplier to the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup. Following an official FIA tender, Goodyear will partner with the series for the three years covering the 2020-2022 seasons.

Denso reveals more than 100 thermal range part number additions

Denso has added 121 original equipment (OE) quality part numbers to its thermal management range. The latest references consist of 39 radiators, 76 condensers and six cabin blowers, which are linked to 342 OE numbers and cover an additional 2,300 vehicles.

WhatTyre to exhibit at Autosport International

The tyre comparison website WhatTyre.com will make its exhibition debut at Autosport International, from 9-12 January (Stand 3530, Birmingham NEC). Over the four show days, the site, which is operated by the same publisher as Tyrepress, will present its tyre comparison engine, which ranks more than 100,000 tyres using a unique TyreScore algorithm. WhatTyre will also host TyreSafe, which will assist with the site’s central message that high-quality new tyres are an excellent investment for motorists.
