Canada: Group Touchette acquires Atlas Tire Wholesale

Canadian tyre wholesaler Groupe Touchette Inc. has extended its market coverage in that country by acquiring Atlas Tire Wholesale Inc., a distributor with a strong presence in the Ontario region. According to Groupe Touchette, it does not intend to reorganise the businesses apart from “a few adjustments that may be necessary.” The plan is for the two companies to gradually integrate the Ontario market over the next year.

The acquisition of Atlas Tire Wholesale primarily enables Groupe Touchette to expand its operations in Ontario. Atlas Tire Wholesale distributes to car dealerships and independent tyre retailers and operates three distribution centres in the Toronto area, with a fourth scheduled to open in spring 2019. It also has operations in Alberta and British Columbia. Groupe Touchette currently distributes tyres in the Ontario market through its DT Tire and TireLink businesses and their five distribution centres.

With the acquisition of Atlas Tire Wholesale, Groupe Touchette forecasts sales revenues in the range of CA$550 to $650 million. Following the opening of new distribution centres and the addition of the seven Atlas Tire Wholesale facilities, Groupe Touchette now operates a total of 35 distribution centres across Canada. The transaction increases its storage capacity across the country by 25 per cent.
