Tyre Industry Awards 2018 announced, including Bridgestone double

The winners of the 2018 “Tyre Industry Oscars” have been announced at the 89th National Tyre Distributors Association annual dinner, with a Bridgestone double in the tyre manufacturer and staff training and development categories headlining the event. More awards were added this year for excellence in tyre retail, with small, medium, and large business categories, as well as an overall winner. Presenting was television personality Mark Durden-Smith, who injected welcome energy and humour into procedings. Tyrepress also announced the results live via its Twitter feed.

  • Tyre manufacturer of the year: Bridgestone UK
  • Tyre wholesaler of the year: Stapleton’s (Tyre Services)
  • Truck and agricultural supplier of the year: Kirkby Tyres
  • Large tyre retail centre of the year: STS Tyre Pros
  • Medium tyre retailer of the year: Universal Tyre (Deptford)
  • Small tyre retailer of the year: Westgate Tyres
  • Overall tyre retail centre of the year: STS Tyre Pros
  • National apprentice tyre technician of the year finalists: Brynley Baldwin (winner) and Ryan O’Keefe, both of Kwik-Fit
  • Staff training and development initiative of the year: Bridgestone UK
  • Industry marketing campaign of the year: Micheldever Tyre Service for its multi-channel tyre safety campaign
  • Aftermarket supplier of the year: DM Supplies (NI)
  • Product innovation of the year: Rema Tip Top Automotive UK
  • REACT commercial tyre technician of the year: Krzysztof Radski of Universal Tyre
  • The NTDA chairman’s award was presented to Kwik-Fit’s Paul Binks
