Michelin honours 5 partners at Supplier Awards

Suppliers were honoured at a ceremony held at Aventure Michelin

Five of Michelin’s best suppliers were recognised at the fourth edition of the tyre maker’s Supplier Awards, which was held yesterday at ‘Aventure Michelin’ in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The awards were presented to representatives of the winning companies by Jean-Dominique Senard, chief executive officer and managing general partner of the Michelin Group, and four members of the Group Executive Committee.

Bekaert: Founded in 1880, the Belgium-based company is a global market leader in the field of steel wire transformation and coating technologies.

Solvay: Also based in Belgium, and created in 1863, Solvay is a world leader in the chemicals industry.

In the field of Industrial Purchasing

Himile: Established in 1995, this Chinese company has become an international player in three major areas, namely tyre mould machines, high-end mechanical parts, and equipment for the oil and gas industries.

VMI: This Dutch company was founded in 1945 and supplies tyre production and rubber cutting machinery.

Human Technologies Inc (HTI): Founded in May 1999, HTI is based in South Carolina and has emerged as one of the biggest recruitment and human resources companies in the southeast of the USA.

Given that purchasing costs represent more than 60 per cent of Group revenue, the high quality of the relationships Michelin enjoys with its suppliers is seen as a key contributing factor to its success. The Michelin Supplier Awards are the result of a robust evaluation process which places the emphasis on excellence in four domains: the quality of the products or services provided, the added value they create for Michelin, innovation, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
