Continental to supply JLG telehanders with jointly-developed tyre

JLG tested the TeleMaster at Continental’s proving grounds in Uvalde, USA

A new five-year supply agreement names Continental as solid tyre provider for JLG telehanders. The two companies have also worked together to develop a tyre for these machines. The resulting product is called the Continental TeleMaster, and this tyre is the priority fitment on all JLG telehandlers manufactured and sold.

The TeleMaster is a solid OTR tyre, and Continental reports that it offers low rolling resistance and thus reduced heat build-up, and also offers a rugged tread to handle rough surfaces at worksites.

“The TeleMaster is a true win-win outcome of the collaboration with JLG,” says Pavel Prouza, head of sales and marketing, the Americas at Continental Commercial Specialty Tires. “Us at Continental were able to transfer and extend our sound knowledge of solid tyre compounds from the industrial to the OTR tyre segment, while providing JLG with a solution tailored to their individual needs.”

JLG was looking for a tyre to suit its JLG and SkyTrak telehandlers. The company needed a solid tyre capable of heavy load bearing, traveling long distances and built with a rugged tread to handle the rough surfaces at worksites. After success with the Continental SC20 solid forklift tyre, JLG and Continental worked to develop a custom tyre with similar capabilities but equipped with a more rugged off the road tread pattern.

“We take pride in working with original equipment manufacturers to develop a tyre for specific applications,” states Carley Shipley, Continental’s key account manager for original equipment in North America. “Our expert engineers work closely with our customers throughout the development process.”
