Swarfega launches “Tough” gel

We all know technicians get their hands dirty, but have you considered occupational skin disorder prevenation?

To celebrate Swarfega’s 70th birthday, the company has launched a new product to help tackle workshop skincare. “Tough Gel Moisturiser” is designed to be used as an after-work cream for general use to maintain the skin’s natural barrier function, and prevent skin drying out.

In the winter months, cold and wet weather can be particularly harsh on the skin. When the humidity drops, the air is colder and dryer and moisture in the skin tends to evaporate more quickly. This means that moisturisers are even more important at this time of year.

According to the company, when protecting skin on the hands, the Gel Moisturiser is best used alongside Tough Protection Cream and a carefully matched hand cleaner. Protection cream helps make the skin easier to clean and helps to strengthen the upper layer of the skin, which means that a gentler hand cleaner is required after a shift. This is in turn kinder on the skin in cold weather. The gel moisturiser then effectively hydrates stressed skin and replenishes any lost moisture. The combined use of all three products is the best way to protect the skin against harsh winter weather.

Recommended usage is to apply Tough Protection Cream before each work period, ensuring hands are clean before applying. When using disposable gloves, Protection Cream should be applied before each fresh pair. Swarfega recommend using this as part of a 3-step skin care routine; protection cream, hand cleaner and moisturiser.
