Vredestein launches Wintrac Pro in Cologne

The Wintrac Pro is currently available in 30 sizes and a further five will soon follow. After the initial run is complete the range will eventually be extended to more than 100 sizes.

Vredestein launched the Wintrac Pro at The Tire Cologne, with arguably the best-attended press conference in the exhibition halls and no small amount of fanfare.

The Wintrac Pro is an ultra-high-performance winter tyre that is designed to meet growing demand within the UHP segment in general and 17-inch rim diameter size bracket in particular. The new tyre focuses on wet and snow performance and is aimed at what are deemed to be the most appealing fitments such as SUVs like the SQ7 fitments (Vredestein even had a Wintrac Pro-equippted SQ7 on-stand). The successor to the Vredestein Wintrac xtreme S, the Wintrac Pro is currently available in 30 sizes and a further five will soon follow. After the initial run is complete the range will eventually be extended to more than 100 sizes.

According to Apollo Vredestein’s own testing, the Wintrac Pro delivers 15 per cent better handling on snow than its predecessor, while wet braking has improved by 10 per cent. Credit for this leap forward in performance goes mainly to the materials used in the tyre – Vredestein says “the unique use of resins with high silica in the tread compound ensures the best possible handling and braking on snow and wet surfaces.” Overall, the tyre maker considers that the Vredestein Wintrac Pro “heralds a new evolution for Vredestein in terms of structure and construction.”
