Neil Hitchen, MWheels technical manager

MWheels has appointed Neil Hitchen to the newly created role of technical manager. Hitchen, a CPC-Qualified transport manager and experienced operations manager, will be responsible for the upkeep of the company’s in-depth technical library, as well as special projects including the introduction of new steel, Xlite and Xbrite forged aluminium wheels from global manufacturer, Wheels India.

The position will expand to include investigative work for MWheels’ wheel safety campaign and its ongoing partnership with the Department for Transport (DfT), as well as promoting its core educational messages through its membership of the National Tyre Distributors Association (NTDA).

Hitchen, who has previously held operational roles at Stockport Truck Centre, The AA and Biffa, all of whom ran fleets from 10-70 HGVs, will report to Mike Cornwell, European supply chain manager for MWheels.

Cornwell said: “As the leading service provider of commercial vehicle wheels for fleets throughout the UK and Europe, it is imperative that our technical information is not only the most comprehensive but also easily accessible and understood by all parties.

“Neil brings a wealth of experience in technical expertise and operations, and as such we will utilise his skills to not only fulfil customer requirements but to take our wheel safety messages to all interested audiences, building the education of this safety critical item throughout the truck and bus sectors.”
