Every year, US-based truck manufacturer Paccar Inc. recognises suppliers who meet or exceed its ‘10 PPM’ quality standard – the equivalent of ten or fewer defective parts for every million components shipped to PACCAR. This year, PACCAR acknowledged 268 suppliers in 26 countries with a 10 PPM Supplier Quality award for achieving this high level of quality performance, and additionally for meeting meet demanding criteria for delivery performance, customer support, and business impact.

Michelin North America is one of only three tyre makers to be honoured this year (the other two being the Michelin and Goodyear subsidiaries in Brazil), and the tyre maker was recently presented with its 2017 10 PPM Supplier Quality award by Gary Safsten, Paccar assistant director of supplier quality, at Michelin North America’s headquarters. Michelin supplies Paccar with a range of commercial-truck tyres for the Peterbilt and Kenworth truck brands.

“At Michelin, we take pride in providing the highest quality commercial-truck tires to our customers,” said Scott Clark, chairman and president of Michelin North America. “On behalf of the entire Michelin team, we are pleased to be recognised this year by Paccar for our approach to quality, delivery and customer service. The award is a reflection of our ongoing commitment to provide outstanding customer service that matches the quality of our products.”

“Paccar is a leader in quality and technology. With trucking being the lifeblood of the economy, our suppliers must share our cornerstone belief in quality and innovation,” said Debbie Poppas, vice-president of supplier quality at Paccar. “Michelin is in an elite group of three tyre suppliers that met our stringent PPM goal. Michelin North America achieved zero defects and was recognised along with Michelin South America.”
