TyresOnTheDrive: Private motorists warming to mobile tyre fitting

According to TyresOnTheDrive, mobile fitting is the fastest growing sector of the replacement tyre industry. The Cheshire-based business comments that demand has more than doubled in the past four years as motorists opt to have a technician come to them rather than having to take their car to a high street outlet.

Although home and mobile fitting accounts for just two per cent of the UK replacement tyre industry overall, TyresOntheDrive shares that data from Google shows online searches for it to have rocketed from around 25,000 in February 2015 to approaching 60,000 in the same month this year. “And sector leaders say that this trend will only continue as more drivers get to know about what is still a relatively young industry,” it adds.

“These figures show that more drivers are switching onto the convenience of having tyres changed at a time and place of their choosing,” says Ray Fernandez, chief executive officer of TyresOnTheDrive. “Until recently, mobile tyre fitting was really only done for fleet drivers, but now we are providing this service for private motorists. They can pick a two-hour slot, we come to their home and it could not be easier.

“Just as with online shopping and groceries being delivered to your doorstep, this is the way the world is moving as people value convenience.”

TyresOnTheDrive claims to hold around 50 per cent of the mobile tyre fitting sector, a market share equivalent to one per cent of the UK industry total. From its eight sites it provides coverage to 85 per cent of the UK population and can offer its customers access to a catalogue of more than 10,000 tyres available for next day fitting.
