Baseball sponsorship: Westlake pairs up with San Diego Padres

The agreement gives the Westlake brand a stadium presence

Westlake tyre has struck a sponsorship deal with Major League Baseball’s San Diego Padres for the 2018 and 2019 seasons together with its US distributor, Tireco Inc. The sponsorship includes a signage package, on-site activation and hospitality opportunities for dealers and VIPs, aiming to improve the brand image and brand influence in the local market.

In a statement, Westlake brand manufacturer Zhongce Rubber Group Co., Ltd. commented: “Baseball is one of the most popular sports in US and it provides perfect platform for us to introduce our tyre brand to more customers in local market. It’s a pleased cooperation between two teams.”

“We’re proud to associate ourselves with the San Diego Padres organisation,” said Andrew Hoit, vice-president of sales and marketing at Tireco. “We’re excited for Opening Day and the opportunity to connect with loyal Padres fans for the entire 2018 and 2019 regular seasons.”

This is not Westlake’s first sports marketing activity – together with Nicaraguan distributor Dianca SA, it has also sponsored Román Alberto González, the recent super flyweight world champion boxer known as Chocolatito. “In the year 2018, Westlake will take various marketing activities to greatly improve the brand influence around the world including the sponsorship, advertising and mass media and also support our dealers to offer the customised marketing for local market,” stated the tyre maker.
