Sri Lanka tyre manufacturer signs recycled carbon black order

A leading tyre manufacturer has placed a first order on Swedish tyre pyrolysis firm Enviro’s recycled carbon black (EnviroCB) for immediate delivery.

“Initially the order volume is small, but is expected to increase significantly over time. The customer is a global manufacturer of tyres and rubber applications and this order relates to industrial tyres”, says Thomas Sörensson, CEO of Enviro.

The delivered EnviroCB will be used for industrial tyres manufactured in Sri Lanka. The order comes after completing thorough material tests.

“Aiming for high manufacturing growth, Sri Lanka is investing in the rubber industry, which makes the country a very interesting market for us,” says Thomas Sörensson, CEO of Enviro.”

Scandinavian Enviro Systems AB was founded in 2001. At that time, the newly-established company was still working to verify and develop CFC technology, to refine its economies of scale, assure the quality of the end products, and to improve the pyrolysis process. From 2005 to 2010, the company built six pilot plants of varying sizes.

In 2013, a full-scale plant was built in Asensbruk. It entered into trial operation the same year. The plant has a planned technical production capacity of approximately 6500 metric tons of waste tyres per year. The plant is owned by Scandinavian Enviro Systems AB’s (publ) wholly-owned subsidiary Tyre Recycling in Sweden AB.
