Point S begins new distribution centre partnership in USA

Further growth for Point S in the USA. Thanks to a new distribution partnership in Memphis, the cooperative network is expanding into the state of Tennessee. The partnership brings with it a new distribution centre. The fourth Point S distribution centre in the USA, the facility offers over 120,000 square feet of tyre warehousing.

“This expansion is in line with our strategic growth plans across the United States,” shared Walter Lybeck, chief executive officer of Point S USA. “We’ve developed a strong retail presence in 15 Western States, and this represents the next step with our commitment to helping independent tyre store owners across the country.” The growth plan and distribution model adopted by Point USA, added Lybeck, is “to be nimble as we grow.”

Point S Tire & Auto Service USA is made up of over 200 stores in 15 states. Through our co-op structure we will give retail tyre store owners all the benefits of our economies of scale and a proven worldwide brand that only exists to support them,” said Clint Young, director of sales and business development at Point S USA. “In the immediate short-term, we expect fast growth from this market, and we’ll achieve critical mass in the next few years. We believe this partnership provides us the capacity to service an additional 50 future Point S member locations.”

Point S has 3,500 branded locations worldwide in 32 countries and sells over 16 million units annually. By 2020, Point S expects to be the third-largest independent retail tyre chain in North America. “North America is a strategic growth area for us, and this exciting development demonstrates the ability of our Member Countries like Point S USA to accomplish this goal,” said Fabien Bouquet, chief executive officer of Point S International head office. “Close to 200 new retail locations have joined our International network this year.”

Point S USA is based in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1983, the company now generates retail sales over $300 million. The more than 200 Point S centres in the USA are supplied by distribution centres in Portland, Oregon; Denver, Colorado; Salt Lake City, Utah; and Memphis, Tennessee.
