Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2 OE on Porsche 911 GT2 RS

A second Porsche OE homologation has been announced for the Sport Maxx Race 2: The Dunlop tyre has gained approval by Porsche as original equipment for on road use on the new 911 GT2 RS in the sizes 265/35 ZR 20 (99Y) XL and 325/30 ZR 21 (108Y) XL. Porsche gave the Dunlop tyre its blessing after intensive testing on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in Germany and on Porsche’s proving ground in Nardò in Italy. The Sport Maxx Race 2 is already approved for the Porsche 911 GT3.

“The Sport Maxx Race 2 is a great evolution of the previous Sport Maxx Race and an excellent match for our 911 GT2 RS, in terms of dry performance, grip and steering precision. Dunlop fully understood our requirements,” said Jan Frank, handling dynamicNick s specialist at Porsche.

Dunlop says its motorsport experience is a fundamental asset when designing and developing ultra high-performance tyres for sports cars such as the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. It describes motorsport as representing “the ultimate test and proving ground” since it enables to collect substantial amounts of data, feedback from drivers and allows to compete directly with other tyre brands to push the boundaries of innovation. “Winning a 24H race is the ultimate test of durability, performance and consistency for any tyre manufacturer, and Dunlop succeeded in transferring what was learnt at 24H Nürburgring and at 24H Le Mans race into on-road performance tyres,” writes the tyre maker.

“Working to develop a tyre for platforms like the Porsche 911 GT2 RS means making full use of our experience in motorsport and our capabilities in delivering tailor-made solutions for the most prestigious OEMs,” adds Nick Harley, managing director OE Consumer EMEA.
