Australia centre a model for Bridgestone’s global mining solutions

A new mining solution base has been set up in Western Australia to provide Bridgestone mining tyres, conveyor belts, and hydraulic hoses, as well as related services, to mine and port customers in the region. Bridgestone says the technologies and expertise accumulated at this base will be employed as the company systematically establishes new mining solution centres in areas near major mines worldwide.

The Pilbara Mining Solution Center (PMSC) is operated by Bridgestone subsidiary Bridgestone Earthmover Tyres Pty. Ltd.; it commenced operations on 10 November and its opening was officially celebrated at ceremonies held on 14 and 15 November. The centre employs approximately ten people and is located in Port Hedland, some 820 miles north of Perth.

The PMSC is located close to both mines and ports, making it possible to swiftly provide products used in these facilities. Based on the concept of ‘Pit to Port,’ PMSC will offer support for all procedures from excavating minerals at mines to transporting them to the ports from which they are shipped to other countries. It will help customers in managing their mining facilities efficiently subsequently improving productivity, increasing asset value, and optimising costs. Moreover, PMSC will deliver customized solutions that are intrinsically linked to the actual sites of operations by combining services including sales, maintenance, and repair of tyres for mining vehicles. PMSC will also coordinate with Bridgestone Australia Ltd. to provide total mobility solutions.

In addition, PMSC will utilise digital solution platforms developed by the Bridgestone Group, including the B-TAG tyre pressure and temperature measurement system, and the TreadStat Tire and Rim Management software for mining and construction vehicles, to accumulate and analyse data in its IT room. This process will enable PMSC to provide feedback for further optimising customer operations and thereby contribute to productivity and asset value.
