Shimazaki to become chairman of Bridgestone (China) Investment

As of 1 September, Mitsuhira Shimazaki will take over as chairman of Bridgestone (China) Investment Co., Ltd., while retaining his position as deputy chairman of Bridgestone Americas Inc. Koji Kajiwara, incumbent chairman of Bridgestone (China) Investment Co., Ltd., will retire from this role and that of deputy chairman of Bridgestone Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. on 1 September. From that date, he will act as an advisor to Bridgestone Corporation.

Mitsuhira Shimazaki, also known as Mike, previously served in Europe on three corporate tours of duty. His most recent began in October 2010 with his appointment as Bridgestone Europe’s senior vice-president of Business Operations, and soon after he was appointed vice-president of sales and marketing. From the start of 2012, he held the position of operating officer. He returned to Japan in July 2014 to take over responsibility for Bridgestone’s International Tire Business Operations.

Bridgestone Corporation announced late last month that Koji Kajiwara would head the company’s Japan Tire Business from 1 September. It has yet to announce who will take on this role in place of Kajiwara.
