Trinseo president wins leadership award

The Chemical Marketing and Economics (CME) group of the American Chemical Society’s New York Section and materials company Trinseo have announced that Christopher Pappas, Trinseo’s president and CEO, will receive the Leadership Award for Outstanding Corporate Reinvention on 5 December 2017 at the New York Metropolitan Club.

Pappas was instrumental in tripling Trinseo’s value in the last three years through visionary leadership and focus on safety, technology, financial discipline and growth, the company said.

Trinseo produces plastics, synthetic rubber and latex binders that are used in everyday products across a wide range of end markets. The global company said its materials help improve fuel efficiency in tyres and reduce the weight of plastics used in cars.

A 35-year chemicals and plastics industry veteran, Pappas joined Trinseo at its formation in 2010 when it separated from its former parent Dow Chemical through a leveraged buyout with private equity firm Bain Capital Partners.
