Sigmavision to present TreadReader tyre measurement app at Automechanika Birmingham

Sigmavision will show its app for the TreadReader Hand Held scanner at Automechanika Birmingham

Sigmavision will showcase its new TreadReader tyre measurement App at Automechanika Birmingham. The 3D tyre measurement technology company has added the App to its TreadReader range of tyre measurement products; it is used to control the Hand Held scanner, making a tyre inspection and diagnostic tool. Downloaded to a phone or tablet, the App connects to the scanner via Wi-Fi. Intuitive screens guide technicians through the scanning of vehicle tyres, with the option of printing a PDF report for the customer, illustrating tread depth and tyre condition.

TreadReader products create a 3D scanned image, showing the full width of the tyre and 50mm of the circumference. Unlike other measurement devices, TreadReader products produce reliable and accurate scans even on wet and dirty tyres. The colour-coded scans will reveal not just tread depth, but also uneven wear due to wheel misalignment, incorrect tyre inflation, or problems with suspension.

The Hand Held scanner is fully portable and is ideally suited for mobile servicing or workshops where space is more limited. Sigmavision also supplies a Drive Over Ramp, which can be more suitable for larger workshops, where vehicle volumes are greater and a fully automated process is required.

Sigmavision MD to speak in Automechanika seminar programme

In addition to the company’s stand, Sigmavision MD, Andrew Pryce, will present its ‘Beyond the Workshop’ strategy as part of the Automechanika aftermarket seminar programme. This is a strategy providing free and accessible tyre checks to the public, using ramps deployed in retail locations.

To achieve this, Sigmavision has developed a new specification of Drive Over ramp for car parks, supermarkets and petrol station locations. It adds that the ‘Beyond the Workshop’ strategy is raising awareness of tread depth and tyre safety among motorists, who can access the tyre scans produced by the TreadReader ramp. Tyre manufacturers and retailers participating in the strategy can incentivise motorists via promotional campaigns and discount vouchers for the fitment of new tyres or related services, such as wheel alignment.
