Yokohama extends sole tyre supplier deal with All-Japan F3 Championship

Yokohama has extended its agreement to supply its global flagship Advan racing tyres as the sole control tyre for the All-Japan Formula 3 Championship Series through until the end of 2019. The extension means Yokohama Rubber will be the sole tyre supplier to the championship series for nine straight years, starting from 2011.

The control tyres will again be the Advan A005 for use on dry tracks and the Advan A006 for use on wet surfaces. Both tyres use Yokohama’s proprietary orange oil compounding technique to ensure superior grip performance while enhancing environmental performance. The control tyre sizes will be 200/50VR13 for front tyres and 240/45VR13 for rear tyres.

Yokohama said its retention as the sole tyre supplier shows its products meet the superior performance requirements set by the Japanese Formula 3 Association, the championship operator. Yokohama supports formula racing in Japan from entry-level races to the highest category; it became the official tyre supplier for the Japanese Super Formula Championship series, Asia’s ultimate Formula racing series, in 2016, and also supports of Japan’s Super-FJ junior formula racing series.

The All-Japan Formula 3 Championship series was started in 1979, making it the longest-running race category in Japan. The series features no-frills formula racing cars designed solely for speed and driving performance. The All-Japan series, together with F3 series in other countries, is considered a springboard for young drivers hoping to become F1 drivers.
