Conti opens training centre in Hefei, China

Continental has opened its first training centre in the APAC region in Hefei, Anhui province in China. The facility is located in Anhui Province, in the Hefei Hi-tech Industry Development Zone, beside the company’s tyre plant and R&D test centre.

According to the company, the $3 million facility aims to equip Continental’s business partners with the skills and knowledge required for operating a successful tyre business.

Total investment by Continental in the province, including passenger car and bicycle tyres production, is said to be about $752 million.

Nikolai Setzer, executive board member responsible for the tyre division, said: “The opening of the training centre represents an important step towards our long-term growth strategy ‘Vision 2025’. With this facility put into operation, Continental Tires accomplishes the phased goal of integrating production, R&D and professional training in this blooming market, covering almost the entire value chain of our tyre business. Consistent training is an important pillar to our success, and we believe that it will further fuel our market expansion in the APAC region.”

Courses being held at the centre include professional tyre knowledge, tyre service and industry intelligence featuring a ‘theory with practice’ training method.
