New Bandag tread for winter conditions

Bridgestone Europe has released an all-new Bandag tread for winter use. The Bandag BDR-WXT drive regional tread is Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) and M+S marked in recognition of its suitability in extreme, even Nordic winter conditions.

“Bandag winter retreads not only help operators extend the life of their valuable tyres and casings,” states Bridgestone Europe. “They offer the technology to extend the safety, reliability and performance of premium tyres, even in the most severe winter conditions. The all-new Bandag BDR-WXT regional drive tread is no different: delivering the sure-footed traction and superior mileage needed to power through wet and snow-covered roads and even across ice.”

According to Bridgestone Europe, the very latest Bandag tread and compound technologies have been used in the BDR-WXT to “ensure superior grip and minimum braking distances in mud, in fresh or melting snow and even on icy surfaces.” The unidirectional tread pattern contains deep, sharply-angled sipes to break up pocketed water and surface film, thereby improving grip on wet surfaces and dispersing water quickly away from the contact patch. “The resultant reliable wet handling and braking improves safety and driver comfort while also limiting tyre deformation and associated rolling resistance for reduced fuel consumption,” reports the tyre maker.

Mileage and service life have been addressed by the application of tie-bar technology developed by Bridgestone that helps increase block stiffness and thus minimises heel and toe wear – this not only reduces the need to replace tyres, it also reduces the frequency at which they must be rotated.

The Bandag BDR-WXT tread is available in sizes: 315/70R22.5, 315/80R22.5, 305/70R22.5, 295/60R22.5 and 315/60R22.5.
