All-season tyres added to Pirelli Carrier family

Pirelli Carrier All Season

When Pirelli introduced its Carrier van tyre range two years ago, the company stated an aim of making Carrier the “European leader in the tyre replacement market for light commercial vehicles.” the initial summer tyre line was joined by a selection of winter products in the run-up to the 2014/15 season, and now demand in a fast-growing market segment will be satisfied with the introduction of the Pirelli Carrier All Season.

“With its unique tread design, innovative profile geometry and advanced all-season compound, the new Carrier All Season offers constant performance and high mileage,” comments Pirelli. Over time the new range will replace corresponding products from the Pirelli Chrono Four Seasons family, and the tyre maker states that the new-generation tyre delivers up to ten per cent better wet braking, wet handling and aquaplaning performance; this improvement is said to come courtesy of the interplay between the tyre’s tread pattern, rubber compound and profile geometry. The latter two qualities are also credited with delivering a “significant increase” in mileage, and handling on wet and dry road surfaces and braking distance is reportedly improved by the application of 3D siping technology.

The Carrier All Season also benefits from Pirelli’s ‘Seal Inside’ self-sealing technology, and is the first Carrier product available with this puncture protection solution. “It is a perfect technology for fleet vehicles that cover many miles, and will reduce downtime caused through tyre failure,” comments Pirelli.

The first Carrier All Season dimension (195/70R15C 104R) is now available, and a further 11 sizes are scheduled for introduction by the end of November. The complete range will cover the 15 to 17-inch rim diameter spectrum, with 16-inch fitments the primary focus. All tyres will carry an EU tyre label rating of ‘C’ for rolling resistance and either an ‘A’ or ‘B’ rating for wet braking. The snowflake symbol is present on the sidewall of each Carrier All Season tyre, signifying its suitability for winter use in markets where legislation prescribes the fitment of winter-specific rubber.
