Solvay Silica appoints Lintech as a US distributor

Lintech International LLC has reported that it has been appointed as a non-exclusive distributor for Solvay Silica in the US, covering markets including the manufactured rubber goods (MRG) market.

Solvay Silica was the inventor of Highly Dispersible Silica (HDS) in the 1990’s and a key part of the development of so-called energy-saving tyres. With nine manufacturing sites and four research laboratories on as many continents, Silica also offers a range of applications in personal care, animal nutrition, high-performance membranes and in rubber reinforcement.

The news follows distinctly mixed first quarter results, which were published opn 3 May, in which Solvay posted a first-quarter net profit of 15 million euros, reversing a 12 million euro loss recorded in the same period last year.

At the same times the Belgiam chemical company posted a 5.6 per cent decline in sales for the three months ending March 2016 – 2.93 billion euros. However, pre-tax profits increased 12 .1 per cent to 492 million euros. However, there was an 11 per cent decline in sales at the Silica unit.
