Prinx Chengshan returns to Essen after 10-year break

For Prinx Chengshan Tire Company, which is exhibiting at Reifen between 24 and 27 May, “Essen is calling”. The firm’s attendance marks its return to the well-known tyre exhibition some 10 years after the company’s last appearance. Lots has changed since then, not least the ownership of the company following the firm’s decision to buy-out joint venture partner Cooper Tire back in December 2014.

The comeback is also a new beginning for Prinx Chengshan, with Puchov, Slovakia-based managing director Ivan Majsky pointing out that the firm has much to offer in Europe. Indeed, the firm’s strengths are said to include: “unspoiled brands for exclusive distribution, professional treatment and European terms” and long-term business sustainability.

Ivan Majsky commented: “After a 10-year break, Prinx Chengshan Tire Company is coming back to Europe. With a clear intention to become a strong European player, we have decided to establish our European headquarters in Slovakia, which – together with the Czech Republic – is the heart of the modern European automotive industry. It is a very important step of our new global strategy we have been developing since we acquired 65 per cent stake back from Cooper Tire in 2014.

“Our parental company Chengshan Group celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. Following company’s vision to build up a premium tyre brand with a true Chinese pedigree, we are committed to responding promptly to a fast-paced, rapidly changing competitive environment, and pushing constantly beyond our limits. We are back in Europe, and we are back for good.”

It will be interesting to learn more during Reifen week.
