Yokohama tyres selected for fitment on Toyota Prius

Yokohama tyres have been approved as an original equipment fitment on the latest version of the Toyota Prius. According to Yokohama Rubber, the BluEarth E70 will be supplied in size 215/45R17 87W for the Prius models sold in Europe, Japan and Oceania, while North American Prius models will get the BluEarth S34 all-season tyre in size P215/45R17 87V. The Yokohama Aspec A349 has been approved for original equipment fitment in markets outside these regions, and will be delivered to Toyota Motor Corporation in size 195/65R15 91H.

The new Prius was launched in Japan last December ahead of its debut in global markets, and several brands of tyre have already been homologated as original equipment fitments. Sumitomo Rubber Industries announced the approval of its Dunlop Enasave EC300+ at the time of the Toyota hybrid’s release, and it is supplying this tyre in the Japanese market in size 195/65R15 91S.

Bridgestone also covers this dimension in Japan, while it is providing the same tyre model, the Ecopia EP150 in size 195/65R15 91H for fitment to cars destined for sale in Europe. Further Bridgestone approvals for the Prius include the Turanza T002 in size 215/45R17 87W for Europe and Japan, and the Ecopia EP422 plus in sizes 195/65R15 89S and 215/45R17 87V for North America.

Toyota has approved four Toyo NanoEnergy models for the latest-generation Prius. European customers can receive the NanoEnergy J61 in size 195/65 R15 91H or the NanoEnergy R41 in size 215/45 R17 87W, while Prius buyers in the USA will get the NanoEnergy A29 in size P195/65 R15 89S. For the Japanese market, Toyota has approved the NanoEnergy J59 in size 195/65 R15 91S as its smaller-size option, while customers selecting 17-inch rims for their Prius can receive the same 215/45 R17 87W NanoEnergy as is supplied in Europe.
