Greenergy Flexigrid switches fleet to Goodyear Fuelmax

Greenergy Flexigrid will fit Goodyear’s Fuelmax tyre to its fuel haulage fleet

Greenergy Flexigrid, the fuel haulage service company within the Greenergy Group, has signed a new deal with Goodyear that will see the company fit its 100-plus vehicles with the tyre supplier’s Fuelmax commercial tyre. The tyre has been tested extensively by several European fleets since its 2014 launch. Andy Darling, business development manager at Greenergy Flexigrid, said: “Goodyear already operate within our sector, which means that they understand the challenges and nature of our business.

“Clearly with a fleet as large as ours and doing the sort of annual mileage typical to our operation, fuel efficiency is a major factor when considering the cost-efficiencies of our tyre investment. Goodyear had the most competitive offer, both in terms of driving cost out of our business through a fuel efficient tyre, and dedicated service support to improve our overall tyre management.”

Marc Preedy, commercial director at Goodyear Dunlop UK & Ireland, said: “It’s now a few years since we launched the FUELMAX range and we’re seeing more and more fleets demonstrating their fuel saving potential.

“Being able to optimise tyre investment in this way is just an incredibly powerful business proposition to savvy fleet operators.”

Darling concluded: “The reason we went out to the market was because we felt our previous product and service package wasn’t delivering sufficient value to our business.

“What’s impressed us about Goodyear from the very start is their focus on putting the best possible solution in place from a product and service perspective, tailored to the demands of our fleet and business.”

Greenergy Flexigrid delivers around 5 billion litres of fuel a year to both retail and commercial customers, travelling over 11.5 million miles a year in the process.

Spedition Bartkowiak test for Fuelmax

Goodyear has recently carried out several fuel efficiency tests on its low rolling resistance commercial line, including an internal test carried out by German fleet Spedition Bartkowiak.

The fleet compared the Fuelmax with another current premium brand tyre on three identical Euro 6 test trucks, fitting Goodyear’s Fuelmax S (steer axle) in sizes 315/60R22.5; 315/70R22.5 and 385/55R22.5 and Goodyear Fuelmax D (drive axle) in sizes 295/60R22.5; 315/60R22.5 and 315/70R22.5 as well as Goodyear’s Kmax T on the first and third lift axles, and the Fuelmax T in sizes 385/55R22.5; 385/65R22.5 and 435/50R19.5 on the second axle. The test covered approximately 320,000km on public road driven by different drivers between January 2014 and June 2015.

Goodyear states that the results of the test showed a fuel saving potential of “up to 1.6l per 100km per truck using Goodyear’s Fuelmax tyres.
