EDT Automotive hits £1 million turnover landmark

Kent-based engine detox specialist EDT Automotive has turned over £1m since launching in 2013, generating £2.5m in additional aftersales turnover for franchised dealers and high end independent garages.

EDT managing director, David Holmes FIMI, said: “To hit the £1m turnover mark is an important milestone. It exceeds what we thought was an ambitious target when we set up the company three years ago. The treatment makes a real difference to fuel economy and drivers are spreading the word via social media. For workshops, our pay-as-you-go model means the up-front costs are minimal. It’s a winner for all involved and good for the environment.”

“In early 2015, we expanded our selection criteria to include the best independent garages as well as main dealers. We haven’t looked back since. We’ve discovered a strong compatibility with Bosch Car Care Centres and are looking to fill open points now, especially in Norfolk, Suffolk and Lincolnshire.

“Winning the Green Apple award in November brought us a lot of attention and Natasha Kaplinsky in the IMI film praised our impressive green credentials. EDT is an exciting product which delivers much-needed profit for workshops while tackling pressing environmental concerns. In these days of advanced diagnostics, it is something motorists can see and feel. We find the analogy of removing cholesterol is easily understood.”

The hand-built EDT machine cleans petrol or diesel engines with an environmentally friendly solution in just 13 minutes. The results are close to doing a manual engine strip, with fuel economy increased by up to 20 per cent, power increased by up to 6bhp and torque increased by up to 7ft-lb. Harmful emissions are also significantly reduced: CO by an average 66 per cent and diesel smoke by an average 58 per cent.
