No poor performers: Auto Bild Sportscars’ 20-inch tyre test

Six brands of 20-inch tyres were tested on a Jaguar F-Type; none disappointed, and top honours were shared by the second-cheapest tyre tested

A Jaguar F-Type, half a dozen 20-inch tyre models, and nothing much to complain about – these are the key ingredients in the latest tyre test from Auto Bild Sportscars. The German magazine’s test of premium and quality segment tyres focused on the front axle size 255/35 and rear 295/30 size. All of the six tested brands carried the ‘Y’ speed rating.

None of the contenders proved disappointing. First place was shared by the most expensive tyre in the test, Continental’s new SportContact 6 (approx. €1,200 per set), and the second-cheapest, the Hankook Ventus S1 evo² (approx. €950 per set); both of these tyres gained an ‘exemplary’ rating. The midfield was occupied by the ‘good’ rated Michelin Pilot Super Sport (approx. €1,150 per set) and Yokohama Advan Sport V105 (approx. €1,100 per set), while the last two places were occupied by the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti (approx. €870 per set) and, hot on its heels, the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT (approx. €1,050 per set). Both tyres received a ‘satisfactory’ rating.
