Mitas to show dual-purpose radial at EICMA

Size 140/8R17 Mitas Terra Force-R for rear wheel fitment

Milan-based motorcycle exhibition EICMA gets under way tomorrow, and Mitas says it will unveil a new dual-purpose radial tyre there. Called the Terra Force-R, the tyre is said to feature a “street-oriented tread pattern” that offers “excellent traction on wet or dry roads and outstanding performance on light off-road surfaces.”

The manufacturer states that whole-life durability and stable performance were a development emphasis, while “great straight-line stability” is ensured through an optimised block tread design. “Mitas Terra Force-R is an excellent choice for riders of adventure motorcycles,” comments Ksenija Bitenc, managing director for Mitas Moto.

“At EICMA we will unveil many other innovations from different segments such as tyres for extreme rally, trial or flat track to show our wide product portfolio,” adds Bitenc. In addition to presenting the Terra Force-R, Mitas will display new rally (E-12 and E-13), trial (ET-01 X-Pro) and flat track (FT-18) patterns at the Milan motorcycle show.

E-12 (front) and E-13 (rear): Both tread patterns are designed for extreme motorcycle rallying, such as those encountered during the Dakar rally. The front tyre is initially available in size 90/90-21 and rear in size 140/80-18.

ET-01 X-Pro: This is Mitas’ latest-generation rear wheel tyre for trial racing motorcycles. The tyre maker states that a new casing construction and the use of an extra soft tread compound allows “excellent grip and riding properties” on a wide range of terrains.

FT-18: This new tread pattern for professional use in flat Track races is available in sizes 27×7-19 4PR (front) and 27.5×7.5-19 4PR (rear) and in two versions: MH for middle to hard tracks (this tyre can be identified by a red stripe marking) and MS for middle to soft track (marked by a green stripe). A size 120/70-17 NHS version is suitable for smaller motorcycles.
