Pirelli, Pro-Align kick off Tyre Safety Month events with football support
Pro-Align and Pirelli talk to players from Burton Albion and Carlisle United about their tyre tread depths

Players and coaching staff from table-topping Burton Albion FC and Carlisle United attended tyre safety events hosted by Pirelli and Pro-Align to start October’s Tyre Safety Month. The roadshows, held at Pirelli’s Carlisle factory and Burton headquarters, aimed to remind Pirelli staff and the wider motoring public about the importance of regular tyre tread depth checks. To help deliver the message in a fast and highly visual manner, the events utilised the new Hunter QuickTread drive over tread depth measurement system, available exclusively in the UK through Pro-Align.

“These events were a great way to kick off Tyre Safety Month and remind drivers about why they should check their tyre tread depths at least once a month,” comments Paul Beaurain, managing director, Pro-Align. “While we were only on site for a few hours each time, the efficient nature of QuickTread meant we were able to measure dozens of cars quickly and accurately so drivers could go away with a clear results print-out highlighting if they needed to replace their tyres or not.”

As well as dozens of staff from Pirelli who took advantage of the opportunity of the free tread depth checks, Burton Albion FC manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, chairman Ben Robinson, club captain John Mousinho and defender Darius Charles all put QuickTread through its paces. Meanwhile in the North West, Carlisle United players Charlie Wyke and Connor Hammell gained confirmation they had good tread on their tyres following the Quick Tread measurement.

Pirelli UK managing director Dominic Sandivasci said: “The activity with Pro-Align to kick off Tyre Safety month was a great success in both Burton and Carlisle. The state-of-the-art system from Pro-Align is very impressive, and checked so many tyres in such a short space of time. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pro-Align for their support.”

Out of all the cars measured by QuickTread over the two events, only 9 per cent had an ‘Advisory’ tread depth between 1.6mm and 3mm.
