Pirelli and Lamborghini launch clothing collection

These driving shoes feature soles inspired by Pirelli tyre treads

In 1963, Ferruccio Lamborghini turned to Pirelli to supply the tyres for the 350 GTV, the first sports car produced by his brand-new company. This was the start of a more than half-century partnership that has seen Pirelli tyres fitted as original equipment on a host of Lamborghini creations, including the Miura, Countach, Diablo, Gallardo and the Aventador. Now Pirelli and Lamborghini have partnered once again, and this time created something you can wear rather than drive.

Lamborghini and Pirelli have announced the launch of the Automobili Lamborghini powered by Pirelli Design collection. The stated goal of the partnership between Automobili Lamborghini and Pirelli Design is to “create products with a strong technical inclination, inspired by the world of performance tyres and aimed at ‘premium’ customers.” The project extends the two companies’ brand values and design – “technology, elegance and 100 per cent Italian-made quality” – to clothing and footwear.

The collection includes a jacket, polo shirt and moccasins. The jacket is intended for “today’s increasingly dynamic man” and is made from lambskin and nylon. The polo shirt is crafted in mercerised cotton piquet and features a two-tone grey ribbed inlaid collar and contrasting detailing in the neck and vents. The moccasins are described as “ergonomic driving shoes” that are designed to “assist the articulation of the driver’s foot while driving.” Their soles feature a tread design “evoking” a Pirelli radial pattern.
