Pirelli showcases truck tyre offerings

The Pirelli ST:01 base is specifically designed for trailers and semi-trailers

While the long-term direction of Pirelli’s truck tyre business looks set to seem the firm combined with the commercial vehicle operations of ChemChina-owned Aeolus, Pirelli’s high profile return to April’s CV Show for the first time in a decade is unlikely to have been coincidental (see Company New section for the latest details on the ChemChina-Pirelli acquisition). Either way, in the meantime Pirelli is promoting its brand, product range and technology. According to the company, top of the list are Pirelli’s range of tyres for trucks as well as a host of management tools to help fleets monitor their tyre usage, for example, CyberFleet.

First off, the product range includes: FR:01 II and TR:01 II. Pirelli reports that these tyres are at home in “even the most varied of usage conditions” because they are “more resistant and longer lasting, with better performance in both wet and dry conditions and at low temperatures, enabling higher mileage and better roadholding”.

Then there’s the ST:01 Base, which is specifically designed for trailers and semi-trailers, with a precise aim to cut operating costs. The ST:01 Neverending focuses on the best mileages possible for less demanding high-distance highway work.  The ST:01 M&S is a mud and snow variant specifically designed for trailers and semi-trailers when better grip performance is needed.

In addition, there is the latest Retread Novateck TR:01 (drive), which is produced on high-pressure press with multi-segment mould technology. When combined with the :01 casing, Pirelli reports that it provides “a state-of-the-art retread with performance approaching that of new” tyre.

In addition is promoting its fleet management system, which sees Pirelli work hand-in-hand with the transport manager to track tyre performance and costs, and it also provides centralised invoicing, making it easier for the fleet to see all its costs and assets in one place.

The management of the product can be enhanced by good tyre husbandry from the chosen service provider. According to Pirelli, the support of Pirelli’s Fleet Service Engineers is also vital. They can use various systems and technologies including Fleet Check, which helps monitor and audit on-going mileage and performance, as well as CyberFleet, which can assist in quick and accurate pressure and temperature readings, thereby allowing the fleet to forward plan maintenance, keeping the truck on the road and earning its way.
