New automated compounder for Cooper Tire’s Tupelo plant

According to local media reports, Cooper Tire & Rubber will invest US$1.89 million in new equipment for its Tupelo tyre factory in the USA. The investment covers the purchase and installation of a new automatic compounder, along with a 1,300 square metre (14,000 square foot) extension of the facility in order to house the new equipment.

News of this investment in Tupelo follows recent company announcements regarding the adaption of Cooper plants to meet changing consumer tyre requirements, and it is part of an agreement made last year to invest up to $140 million in the Tupelo facility in exchange for financial assistance from the state of Mississippi over a ten year period.
