Uniwheels names Buchholz chief automotive officer, executive board deputy chairman

At its meeting on 15 June 2015, the Supervisory Board of Uniwheels AG approved the appointment of Dr. Thomas Buchholz as an additional member and deputy chairman of the company’s Executive Board, and named him the next head of the company’s Automotive division. Buchholz will commence in these roles on 10 August.

Announcing his appointment, Uniwheels shares that Dr. Buchholz has “many years of international management experience in the automotive industry.” His last position was a chairman of the board at automotive supplier SHW AG (Aalen), and between 2008 and 2013 he led TI Automotive GmbH as managing director. Buchholz also held various management positions within the Mahle group over a 17 year period. He obtained his doctorate in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe and earned a Master’s degree from Yale University.

“The Supervisory Board is delighted to have gained an experienced and expert Executive Board member for the company,” writes Uniwheels in a statement. “The Supervisory Board is convinced that, with his many years of experience in the automotive supply business, he will promote the internationalisation, further growth and increased profitability of Uniwheels AG. In particular, Dr. Buchholz will be focusing on consistently expanding the various lightweight construction technologies for reducing the weight of high-quality aluminium wheels as well as increasing sales volumes for customers in the premium vehicles segment.

The other members of Uniwheels’ Executive Board are Ralf Schmid (CEO and chairman) and Dr. Karsten Obenaus (CFO).
