Mahle Aftermarket expands UK warehouse on back of ‘rising demand’

Mahle Aftermarket has added a 350sqm extension to its existing 70,000sqm warehouse in Bilston, West Midlands. The UK subsidiary of the German Mahle Group says the extension has helped to create no less than 1,300 new locations to provide more space for its core automotive filtration range as well as new product offerings such as replacement turbochargers, electronic thermostats and HVAC service equipment.

The warehouse expansion and installation of the latest state-of-the-art parts handling systems, has been overseen by Bjoern Hornung, who has been recruited by Mahle Aftermarket UK from the manufacturer’s headquarters in Stuttgart, where he was responsible for supplier relationship management and the integration of new products into the central parts supply chain.

Launching the latest stage along the company’s path to success, managing director, Jonathan Walker said: “This year we are making key changes to our internal processes, introducing the latest technology such as pick by voice, bar coding, data management and strict tracking of deliveries.

“We are also restructuring internally with new personnel to enhance our customer service performance levels and customer response time.  Part availability is high on the agenda to provide our many customers with an excellent experience of Mahle, not only in product quality, but matching service.

“Today, Mahle is a leading system supplier of piston systems, cylinder components, valve train systems, plus air and liquid management systems for all major vehicle manufacturers in Europe, Asia and the US By supplying the independent aftermarket with parts made on the same production lines and to the same specification and quality as original equipment, the company is able to guarantee workshops total spare part integrity and first time fit, every time.”
