TecAlliance provides Wix Filtration with new customer-facing app

TecAlliance, the company behind TecDoc Catalog, is helping companies like Wix Filtration to present data to those ‘working at the coalface in the automotive aftermarket’

Parts information data provider TecDoc has developed a smartphone app for Wix Filtration. Designed to boost significantly Wix Filtration’s ability to reach customers with the information they need, when they need it, the app is available to download now.

Wayne Stevens, managing director of Wix Filtration said: “The reasoning behind developing the app was simple: to provide added value to our customers and allow them quicker and easier access to our data through the most convenient method of transfer.

“The fact is that millions of us now own and use smartphone devices, which is why we as an organisation decided to move with the times and provide the information our customers need via today’s usable technology.

“When you make the decision to develop something new, you have to have confidence in the individuals and the organisation responsible for delivering the finished project, which is why for this important project we did our homework, looked at the options and made the business driven comparisons to come up with the right decision, which was to entrust the project to Shaun and the TecDoc team.

“The result is a user friendly app that portrays all the style and personality of the Wix Filters and Filtron brands, but with the systems of a trusted supplier running behind the scenes to ensure the correct and accurate delivery of the data.

“From a practical perspective, the entire process has been straightforward and proactively executed and although pioneered here in the UK in English, the app has also been released across Europe and is available in eight languages.”

Shaun Greasley, commercial director for TecAlliance UK & Ireland added: “Although many may simply know of TecAlliance through the TecDoc Catalog electronic parts catalogue side of the business, projects like this undertaken for Wix and the similar app recently completed for TRW, demonstrate the depth of our knowledge when it comes to handling and presenting data in a way that helps those working at the coalface in the automotive aftermarket.

“Without data, and the means to accurately and reliably isolate and extract it, motor factors would be unable to identify the parts they need to supply and their garage customers would be increasingly unable to carry out the service or repair operations that today’s market demands.

“As TecDoc was originally built on the pooled data from 30 of the most well-respected OE parts suppliers and now has more than 550 aftermarket brands in the Catalog system, it has the ability to provide unrivalled quantities of data at unparalleled levels of accuracy, which is why the majority of individual and multi brands parts catalogues, catalogue providers and retail orientated business platforms such as eBay and Amazon, rely on our data to drive their systems.

“The formulation and control of data is also what underpins our TecRMI technical service and repair information resource for workshops. This information provides them with the detailed instructions necessary to enable them to access the systems and the technical content to carry out a high standard of service and repair work on every conceivable brand of car, van and truck.

“Being able to provide the combination of both the replacement parts identification information, that is so important to factors with the technical instructions that are so crucial to installers, means that we are in a strong position to deliver the service solutions that suppliers such as Wix Filtration so clearly need.”
