An operations base opened by a Bridgestone Corporation subsidiary in Australia is said to be the first facility in the world to specialise in mining tyre business development and to offer comprehensive solution services related to off-the-road tyres for construction and mining vehicles, belts and hoses. Reporting that an opening ceremony has been held for the Bridgestone Institute Global Mining Solutions Pty. Limited centre, Bridgestone states that the facility will act as a global core base, offering support and services that aim to optimise mining tyre customer operations in two primary areas.

The first of these areas is business development related to services, tools and tool packaging for the following: Tyre removal and installation; off-road tyre repair services; wheel maintenance and repair; B-TAG (Bridgestone’s OTR tyre pressure and temperature sensor system); and software for managing tyre condition. The second primary area of focus is the promotion of activities that support the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), including the disposal of end of life tyres and the future development of combined services for the belt and hose businesses.

The Bridgestone Institute Global Mining Solutions Pty. Limited is 100 per cent owned by Bridgestone Earthmover Tyres Pty. Ltd., the Bridgestone company responsible for selling earthmover tyres in Australia, and was set up at a cost of AU$500,000 (£258,000).
