Nokian wins ‘Off Road’ summer tyre test, Maxxis last-placed

Another tyre test from Germany, this time an evaluation of SUV tyres by 4×4 magazine Off Road. The publication selected nine brands of size 255/55 R18 tyres and, using a Mercedes-Benz ML 250 as test vehicle, subjected them to the usual challenges. Nokian’s zLine SUV took the coveted first place on the winners’ podium ahead of the Continental SportContact 5 SUV and Dunlop SP QuatrroMaxx.

This tyre trio, along with the Pirelli Scorpion Verde and Goodyear F1 SUV 4×4 Asymmetric, were rated “highly recommended”. A further three tyres, the Kumho Crugen HP91, Toyo Proxes T1 Sport SUV and Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, received a “recommended” rating, while the Maxxis Victra M36 had to make do with “adequate”.

Further test result details can be found in the Tyrepress.com tyre test database.
